                                    The International Centre for Turbulence Research

                                    The International Centre for Turbulence Research ICTR is a group of

scientists that uses a combination of proven and most modern

technology to investigate problems of turbulence. It was born out of

the realization that progress in turbulence requires to go beyond the

financial, technical, and manpower capabilities of a single researcher

or a single research group. Very much analog to investigations in High

Energy Physics, by joining forces, the members of ICTR are providing

access to shared facilities in measurement technology, a variety of

turbulence generators, and simulation databases for comparison of

complimentary data.

 

At the meeting at Leiden we will try to solidify the group. Important is

the membership in ICTR but even more so is the formulation of the

questions that ICTR wants to address. Only through a careful

formulation of the questions it will be possible to convince us and, of

course, the larger scientific community of why investigations in

turbulence should receive funding.

 

After ICTR is solidified, the aim is to approach the funding agencies in

the individual countries and of course the EU. Very important will be

the collaborative aspect.
