    Arithmetic of Surfaces
    from 25 Oct 2010 through 29 Oct 2010

The subject of the workshop is the arithmetic of surfaces, which concerns the distribution of rational points on these algebraic varieties. The title of the workshop will be taken in a broad sense, but the focus will be on three closely related topics: K3, del Pezzo, and elliptic surfaces. The aspects that will be discussed include, but are not restricted to, density of rational points, Brauer-Manin obstructions, the Batyrev-Manin conjecture, modularity, and ranks of elliptic curves in families.

The main goal of this workshop is to bring together experts working on various different surfaces, and to introduce the field to talented young mathematicians. The program will have ample time for informal discussion.
