COVID-19 measures

When circumstances permit, we will be bring people together again safely and let them experience the power of our creative atmosphere.

Update: July, 2021

Please check the website of the Dutch government for the latest news on COVID-19 measures.

For our future visitors we have implemented the following safety measures and guidelines.

Precautionary measures

The Lorentz Center and Leiden University always follow the health advice of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the travel advice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Avoid contracting or spreading the virus: keep your distance

Together, we’ll get coronavirus under control. Follow the RIVM’s measures to avoid contracting or spreading the virus:

  • Avoid crowds
  • Keep 1.5 meters from others
  • In public transport a face mask is mandatory
  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available
  • Sneeze or cough into your elbow or cover your mouth and nose with a tissue (not your hands). Dispose of tissues immediately and wash your hands

Precautionary measures at the Lorentz Center:

  • There is a fixed number of people per room (check the number on the door before entering)
  • Participants have a fixed seat during the whole workshop week in the lecture room and in their office
  • Please note the walking route in the Lorentz Center (keep right) and in the common room
  • Wash your hands before getting a cup of coffee/tea
  • Instead of the Lorentz Center mug, please only use disposable cups for coffee/tea
  • If you have a cough or cold, stay at home or in your hotel room and inform the Lorentz Center and/or the hotel reception.

What to do when you feel sick?

The Dutch government is asking anyone with a cold, cough, sore throat or fever to go into self-isolation (stay at home and avoid any contact with others).

If your symptoms worsen, call your doctor or the local branch of the Municipal Public Health Service (GGD) instead. For Leiden, this is GGD Hollands Midden at 088 308 30 00.
