A fresh space for fresh ideas: Lorentz Center opens new workshop venues

On Monday, Rector Hester Bijl and Dean Jasper Knoester, officially opened our new facilities in the Snellius Building.

Since early April, we have been based entirely on the second floor of the Snellius Building. The existing spaces have been renovated with a new layout, fresh colors on the wall, new carpeting, plenty of glass walls, and an abundance of greenery. A previously unused wing of the old Snellius building has now been incorporated into the Lorentz Center.

Several workshops have already taken place in the new setting, and participants have responded enthusiastically to the informal and inspiring atmosphere.

In addition to the existing lambda and omega venues, the new wing now includes a third venue: rho. This new space is intended for experimenting with alternative workshop formats—sometimes shorter and more intense, like a pressure cooker. Lambda and omega will continue to be used for our regular workshops.

We are delighted with the new lecture, common, and breakout rooms, all designed to offer an inviting and stimulating environment for everyone participating in our workshops.
