Using the lead isotope community and neighbouring fields as nucleus, the workshop initiates the development of a toolbox for the archaeological sciences written as R package. The aim of the package is to facilitate the transition to script-based workflows through domain-specific functions for, e.g., data processing, statistics, and plotting and by doing so to increase overall transparency and reproducibility of research in the archaeological sciences. The initial version of the R package will be written during the workshop by small teams. From the participants, a group will form that maintains and develops the R package in the long-term.
The workshop brings together experts from different specialisations within the archaeological sciences and with varying skills in R programming to ensure that the functions included in the package will be written and documented for a diverse audience. Pre-workshop activities will create a common ground among all participants.
