This workshop will bring together researchers from astrophysics, particle physics, computational physics, and artificial intelligence to shape a shared roadmap for specialised foundation models in astrophysics. Its central focus is how such models can understand and integrate multimodal and multimessenger scientific data in ways that accelerate both discovery of the cosmos and the scientific method itself. As the new age of AI dawns, this collaboration marks the frontier group who will help shape how human and machine jointly study the cosmos.
Across five days of discussion, planning, and hands-on collaborative work, participants will define the scientific priorities, data-curation requirements, technical foundations, and collaboration structures needed to make this vision realistic. The programme is designed not only to identify promising directions, but also to build shared understanding across disciplines and create momentum around concrete, tractable next steps.
The workshop is intended to seed a long-term open-science collaboration. Expected outcomes include curated datasets, clearly defined scientific use cases, an implementation roadmap, and the foundations for follow-on white papers, grant proposals, and sustained international collaboration.
