Assembly and Star Formation of Early-Type Galaxies in 3D

3 - 7 December 2012

Venue: Snellius

The processes driving how galaxies form and evolve is one of the key mysteries of modern astrophysics. In recent years, our general observational view of early-type galaxies has transformed from seeing them as ancient, triaxial balls of stars to a picture where the processes more associated with disk galaxies, such as dominant rotation, bars, and star formation play a prominent role. The goal of this workshop is to bring together a diverse group of observers and simulators to interact on outstanding questions of star formation, stellar populations, structure, formation and mass assembly of early-type galaxies. The workshop is envisaged to be a team meeting of  the Atlas3D Project, enabling the members of the Atlas3D team and people associated with the project to meet and interact.
