The theme of our workshop is the use of technology to bridge the assessment-to- instruction gap. The workshop focuses on how technology can be used to strengthen the connection between assessment data and instruction in education. Educational assessment data have the potential to enhance teachers’ design and implementation of high-quality instruction, which, in turn, can lead to improved student performance. Unfortunately, this potential is rarely achieved due to the gap between the collection of the data and its use to guide and inform instructional design. The Lorentz workshop will focus on moving the field forward in our efforts to bridge the assessment-to-instruction gap in education.

We are saddened by the recent passing of one of our workshop co-organizers, Professor Lynn Fuchs. Her work exemplified the very essence of the workshop – bridging the assessment to instruction gap via technology. Lynn’s presence will be dearly missed.
