It is the goal of the proposed workshop to clarify the crystalline and jammed states of different soft-matter systems under the influence of driving: (1) Which part of equilibrium-phase behavior carries over to the driven case, and what phase transitions are destroyed by driving? (2) Which transitions depend on the details of the driving? (3) What novel non-equilibrium effects emerge purely due to driving? These questions shall be discussed for experimental systems that are simple enough to be modeled microscopically: colloidal suspensions, granular media, foams, and complex (dusty) plasmas. This workshop brings together researchers investigating different branches of soft matter. Specific advantages of these different experimental systems shall be discussed; and comprehensive theoretical descriptions are presented.
