JINC. strives for a society in which a child’s background does not determine a child’s future. They help young people between 8 and 16 years of age to a good start in the labour market.
The program
Through the JINC program schoolchildren get acquainted with various professions, find out what kind of work suits their talents, and learn how to apply for a job. Part of the program is organizing traineeships at companies and organizations.
Sitting at Lorentz's desk
On 15 January the Lorentz Center welcomed a group of children from the Leiden Pacelli school for a flash traineeship. After a tour around the center, and having a seat at Lorentz's desk, they learned how researchers work together at our workshop center. Furthermore they explored important scientific discoveries and got the chance to make their own presentation and to give a talk to their 'colleagues', like a real scientist.
Worth repeating
For the children and for the Lorentz Center it was a successful experience and definitely worth repeating. We look forward to welcoming more schoolchildren in the future to show what our workshop center is all about. Next visits are already planned.
