This summer school of the Leiden Institute of Physics (LION) offers outstanding students the opportunity to discover the research frontiers of modern physics. The 7-day programme (26 July - 2 August) includes a series of seminars by renowned physicists, visits to research laboratories, and several social activities.
Second- and third-year Bachelor students come to Leiden to participate in a summer school filled with talks, lab tours and cultural events.
Topics
Participants get a unique peek into all the physics research carried out in Leiden. From quantum matter and optics, to biological & soft matter physics and cosmology.
Laboratory Tours
The participants will have a chance to discover the latest research trends in modern physics by visiting Leiden’s state-of-the-art research facilities for quantum measurements, ultramicroscopy, nanofabrication, and the Cell Observatory.
Social Events
The program offers a wide range of social activities like a day at the beach, boat tour of the canals, a pub quiz, and exploring the historic city of Leiden.
