The goal of this workshop is to explore where the field of molecular electronics should be headed in the near future (up to 10 years from now). We aim to create a discussion which will lead to new inspiration and research ideas for the field. We will approach this issue from different angles; from an industrial point of view, from a more bio-inspired point of view and from a physics/chemistry point of view which focuses more on the fundamental aspects. To enable an inspiring, high-level discussion, we have invited key scientists from the various areas described above, as well as from our field of molecular charge transport. Furthermore, we will encourage younger scientists to actively participate.
The workshop will be considered a success if it is a vivid meeting that generates high level discussion without boundaries or taboos. We aim for an open atmosphere in which new ideas on molecular transport can come about, but in which we also dare to critically evaluate present-day research lines. We will challenge the participants to look beyond their own research habits. To make sure these discussions are fruitful and lead to new research lines, much attention will be put in preparing and moderating these sessions carefully.
