The nature of dark matter (DM) is one of the biggest mysteries of the Universe. In 1983, Moti Milgrom proposed that the DM phenomenon is not due to unknown particles but rather to a departure from the known laws of dynamics at low accelerations, below a new fundamental constant a0~10-10 m/s2. After more than 4 decades, Milgromian dynamics (or Modified Newtonian Dynamics, MOND) stands as the main alternative to the particle DM paradigm, having passed multiple observational tests.
This workshop will bring together the growing MOND community, as well as researchers that are generally interested in this alternative framework. We will discuss the most recent developments in MOND research and aim to produce the very first “MOND white paper”. The white paper will summarize the state of the art of MOND research and describe what needs to be done in the next 10-20 years to push forward this alternative paradigm in terms of fundamental theories, numerical simulations, and observational tests across all astrophysical scales, from the Solar System to the large-scale structure of the Universe.
