The workshop aims to explore the interconnectedness between different prosodic systems of tone and stress and to specifically understand the complexity involved in disentangling how the same phonetic cues are used to realise different functions: phonological contrasts, emotional expression and philosophical standpoints and realities. We want to understand the structure of prosodic complexity and the different cognitive levels at which prosody is used in human cognition. We aim to develop more ambitious statistical methods or experimental methods that analyse cues in combination rather than in isolation, as a way of understanding how we process complex information.
