Decision Support Systems are crucial AI applications in healthcare, supporting specialists in diagnoses, facilitate patients and healthcare professionals in jointly discussing possible care scenarios and outcomes thereof, and help ensure the follow up care aligns with the characteristics and specific situation of the patient. Like any medical application this technology must be reliable and subject to rigorous quality control. But how can we impose such rigorous quality control – going significantly beyond accuracy and precision of the models – on the development and usage of (data-driven) AI, and still be useful? In this workshop we aim to answer the question: how can we ensure that joint decision making about healthcare is facilitated by AI, in a way that is legally and medical-ethically warranted?
