The Pisot Conjecture

1 - 5 September 2014

Venue: Snellius

The Pisot conjecture says, in non-technical terms, that a Pisot number is to symbolic dynamics what a quadratic number is to continued fractions. For many years now, this conjecture has been attacked from different angles: using dynamical systems, number theory, Fourier analysis. Significant progress has been made and a lot of ground has been covered, but the conjecture still stands, although it is believed to be true. In this workshop, specialist that have worked on the conjecture will join forces and share their insights with other researchers in dynamical systems and tiling spaces.

We intend to prepare Proceedings of the Meeting as a special issue of the journal Topology and its Applications.
