Numerical galaxy formation models play a key role in the current astrophysics theory landscape. Over the last decade, significant advances by various teams have lead to the construction of models able to reproduce key observables of the galaxy population. Interestingly, these successes are based on models making very different assumptions. This workshop's goal is to open the door towards detailed comparison and unification of the models in a fully open framework (e.g. the SWIFT code). We aim to critically discuss and analyse the recent models and advances as well as draw plans for future implementations to be offered to the wider community.
