Two winners of the eScience Center - Lorentz Competition

The proposals ‘A Time Warp in Digital Chemical Discoveries' and ‘Modeling the Formation of Respiratory Aerosols' are the winners of the eScience Center - Lorentz Competition 2023.

Earlier this year the Lorentz Center and the Netherlands eScience Center invited researchers to join the eScience Center - Lorentz Competition 2023 and to apply for a leading-edge workshop on Computational Mathematics for Real-World Applications. The workshop should bring together researchers and experts from the academic community and the public/ private sector.

The field of competing plans was very strong, so strong in fact that we wanted and succeeded to secure resources for two winners:

A Time Warp in Digital Chemical Discoveries
Titus van Erp, Norwegian University of Science and Technology
Peter Bolhuis, University of Amsterdam
Rosa Bulo, Software for Chemistry & Materials
Roberto Covino, Norwegian University of Science and Technology

and

Modeling the Formation of Respiratory Aerosols
Chantal Darquenne, University of California
Stavros Kassinos, TU Delft
Stefan Hickel, TU Delft
Anna-Carin Olin, University of Gothenburg
Wilbur de Kruijf, Thaerapy BV

Venue and contact
We look forward to host this intriguing and challenging workshops next year at the Lorentz Center.

The workshop ‘A Time Warp in Digital Chemical Discoveries ' will be held 2 – 6 September 2024 at our Snellius venue in Leiden, The Netherlands.

The workshop ‘Modeling the Formation of Respiratory Aerosols’ will be held 23 - 27 September 2024, at our Snellius venue as well.

The Lorentz Center and the Netherlands eScience Center thank all applicants who took the time to submit their proposal.
